HISTORY OF SUCCESS, COMMITMENT TO EXCELLENCE

The GBL Boston Jr. Bruins Hockey Program was one of the founding programs in the Massachusetts Tier 1 Selects League. The League was founded to provide for the development and promotion of outstanding hockey players in the youth age classifications. The League established and maintains a program that provides opportunity for talented youth hockey players to improve their skills and potential for High School, Prep School, Junior, Olympic, Collegiate, and Professional Hockey. It also incorporated a coaching program that elevates the knowledge and ability of coaches to help those young athletes achieve their goals.

The GBL Boston Jr. Bruins Hockey Program was comprised of exceptional players participating in the Greater Boston Youth Hockey League. Those players, in addition to hometown hockey players, were encouraged to play and compete against other Tier 1 / AAA Leagues or Districts players to help raise the level of the athletic ability of those players. The original members were GBL Boston Jr. Bruins, Middlesex Braves, Cape Cod Whalers, Valley Jr. Warriors, Central Mass Outlaws, North Suburban Wings, and South Shore Dynamos.

With the demise of the Greater Boston Hockey League, our midget program was reconstituted as an independent hockey program dedicated to the original ideals of the Massachusetts Tier 1 League. This season we have partnered with the Eastern Hockey Federation on the Midget level forming one of the best Leagues in the country, known as the E.H.F. Selects Tier 1 League.  This new partnership includes the GBL Jr. Bruins, Cape Cod Whalers, Eastern Mass Senators, Boston Bulldogs, North Suburban Wings, Northstar Hockey, Boston Little Bruins, Boston Jr. Eagles, Boston Bandits, Islanders Hockey Club, South Shore Kings, Bay State Breakers, and Boston Jr. Terriers.

The GBL Boston Jr. Bruins Midget Program has a strong history of success, winning the U 18 State Championship in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2009, and 2010. Our U18 players were National Champions in 2004 and 2006 respectively. Our U16 players were State Champions in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013. Many of our athletes have gone on to play hockey at the Collegiate and Professional levels. Our coaching staff consists of a number of alumni from our program that played College Hockey as well as Professional Hockey.  They understand the importance of development and commitment to excellence that it takes to compete at the next level.
