Tier I National Bound U18 Team - Head Coach Bret Tyler
Bret has served as the head coach of the Bruins 18-and-under team upon the conclusion of his playing career in 2013. As a player, Bret played for the Junior Bruins in the now-defunct Eastern Junior Hockey League before matriculating at the University of Maine in 2004. While with the Junior Bruins, he earned first-team All-EJHL honors each of his four years and served as the team captain. He also played for the USA Select Under-17 team in the 2001 Four Nations Festival in Prievidza, Slovakia.
During Bret’s time with the Black Bears, Bret led Hockey East in scoring by defensemen all four years. He was named to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team and won the Maine Rookie of the Year award as a freshman. He was a semi-finalist for the Walter Brown Award as a senior.
Tier I National Bound U16 Team - Head Coach Brendan Collier
Brendan returns to the GBL Boston Junior Bruins as a coach after having played for the team while starring at Malden Catholic High School. At the conclusion of his prep career, which included MIAA Super Eight titles in 2011 and 2012, Brendan was drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes in the seventh round (189th overall) and played a post-grad year with the Valley Jr. Warriors of the now-defunct Eastern Junior Hockey League.
The Charlestown native played for the Boston University Terriers during the 2013-14 season and then transferred to Northeastern University. As a Husky, he was part of the team that went on a 20-2-1 run in the second half of the 2015-16 season and included the team’s first Hockey East Championship since 1988 and served as the team’s assistant captain as a senior in the 2016-17 season.
