Dorchester, MA- The GBL Boston Jr. Bruins organization is excited to announce the schedule for the upcoming 2023 fall season. The 16-and-under and 18-and-under teams will compete in the ultra-competitive EHF Selects league and in prestigious showcases against top teams from throughout the country.
The season will begin with the Eastern Alliance Kickoff over Labor Day Weekend. Both teams play their first games on Friday evening at the Worcester Ice Center and continue on Saturday with two games at the New England Sports Center in Marlborough. The tournament concludes on Sunday with playoff matchups that will be announced on Saturday night.
League play begins when the teams face off against the Boston Jr. Eagles in Wellesley, with the 16U's dropping the puck at 3:30 PM and the 18U's following. On Sunday, the action shifts to the Murphy Rink in South Boston when the 18U's clash with the Little Bruins at 2:00 PM and the 16U's follow against the Boston Jr. Terriers.
The weekend of September 16 sees the teams compete in the EHF Showcase. Currently, the 16U's are scheduled to play at Cushing Academy against the Central Mass Penguins at noon and Top Gun on Sunday at 4:30 PM. The 18U's will be at the Devine Memorial Rink all weekend, opening with a tilt against the Central Mass Penguins at 6:00 PM on Saturday and the Cape Cod Whalers on Sunday afternoon at 3:30.
The Bruins head to Bedford, MA, on September 23 when they clash with the East Coast Wizards. The 16U's begin at 4:00 PM and the 18U's follow. The teams return home to Dorchester on Sunday to face the American Hockey Academy, with the 18U's leading off at 2:00 PM and the 16U's following.
September closes with a home-and-home series against the Central Mass Penguins. Saturday's games take place at Cushing Academy with the 16U's starting off the day at 3:00 PM and the 18U's at 5:00 PM. The teams play a re-match on Sunday, October 1, in Dorchester with the 18U's dropping the puck at 2:00 PM and the 16U's following.
Once again, the Bruins will take part in the Beast Columbus Day Showcase with three games during the holiday weekend. The event will be held at various rinks on the South Shore, with most games being played at the Foxboro Sports Center and Rodman Arena in Walpole.
The Little Bruins visit Dorchester on October 14, with the 18U's clashing at 6:00 PM and the 16U's following. On Sunday, the East Coast Wizards visit, starting with the 18U game at 2:00 PM and the 16U's taking the ice immediately afterward.
The following weekend, the Bruins travel to Foxboro for a tilt with the South Shore Kings, with the 16U's starting at 11:00 AM and the 18U's at 12:30. Sunday's contests will be against the Cape Cod Whalers, with the 16U's again leading off at 10:30 AM and the 18U's following.
The Bruins close out October at the Beantown Fall Classic starting on Friday, October 27, and concluding on Sunday, October 29th at the New England Sports Center in Marlborough.
Once the calendar flips to November, the Bruins hit the road for two games at the Salem (NH) ICEnter. Game times will be announced at a later date.
Finally, the Bruins will compete in the 2023 Massachusetts Hockey State Championships at the New England Sports Center in Marlborough for an automatic bid to the 2024 USA Hockey National Championships in Las Vegas, NV.
