Marlborough, MA- The GBL Boston Jr. Bruins 18-and-under team skated to a 3-3 tie with the North Suburban Wings on Saturday afternoon.
The 18U’s grabbed the lead off an unlikely goal with 14:15 left in the first. Caleb Racki sent a pass to Steven Streeter along the left wing and Streeter sent a high pass to the center that deflected off of Joey Calder into the net.
The Wings tied the game with 10:29 on the clock.
A goal by Benjamin Romer with 7:22 to go in the half put the 18U’s back in the lead after Calder and Streeter set him up at the top of the left circle and he fired the puck home.
The lead held until the Wings scored with 7:35 remaining, and a power-play goal with 4:14 on the clock put the 18U’s down 3-2.
Streeter forced the deadlock when he ripped a shot that bounced off the goalie and into the net with 2:06 left. Calder and Finn Racki were credited with assists.
The 18U’s return to the New England Sports Center tomorrow when they face the Minuteman Flames. Game time is set for 2:00 PM.
