Wellesley, MA- The GBL Boston Jr. Bruins 18-and-under team bowed to the Valley Forge Minutemen 4-2 on Saturday afternoon.
Quinn Mathews gave the 18U’s the lead two and a half minutes into the match when he picked off a pass in the left circle and fired it top-shelf.
The Minutemen tied the game eighty-nine seconds later.
Steven Streeter’s goal with 16:12 to go in the half regained the lead for the 18U’s. Mathews and Michael Melvin assisted on the play.
After nearly 13 minutes of scoreless hockey, the Minutemen again tied the game with 3:29 on the clock and took the lead 15 seconds before the buzzer.
Another Minutemen goal with 10:30 to play accounted for the final score.
Goaltender A.J. Farese skated off for the extra attacker with 1:39 left, but the 18U’s were unable to close the gap before time expired.
The 18U’s return tomorrow morning when they face the New Hampshire Mountain Kings at 9:40 AM at the Canton Ice House.
